Starbucks Akasaka- Akasaka, Fukuoka, Japan

Drank: Frappacino Rhumba

This has to be my favorite Starbucks in Japan. It has a really nice atmosphere, the staff are friendly and there is a laid back feel. One thing I really like about this Starbucks is that it has a lounge corner with a huge couch, pillows and some arm chairs. At one stage the staff brought us free coffee, some cake samples and made sure we were comfortable. The Frappacino Rhumba was very tasty, I like its texture and the mix of coffee and choclate is always a nice treat. Usually this Starbucks is moderately full, mostly University students studying so the background has a nice hum to it, I would think this is the place to come for some intellectual conversations.

Bagel & Bagel- Daimyo, Fukuoka, Japan

Ate: Mushroom Hamburg Bagel
Cranberry Bagel French toast

Bagel & Bagel never fail to impress me with their creative ideas, tasty food and good service. I ate a Mushroom Hamburg Bagel which was divine (hey sorry I have to use food critic speak), the meat actually tasted real which is quite rare in Japan as most places use magic meat. Bagel & Bagel always have different specials of the day, think of it like Subway Sandwiches but with a Bagel instead. The idea and practices are very similar to those of subway, all the bagels are baked on the premises throughout the day, fresh ingredients are used, there is a huge range of Bagels to choose from and they have speedy service. Lunch time is usually busy but if you are fast you can usually grab a table or one of the lounge areas and the staff will your food out to you, or you can take away.

Starbucks Iwataya- Twenjin, Fukuoka, Japan

Drank: Cappuccino Tall size
Ate: Warm Cinnamon Roll (mmmmm. Cinnamon)

Iwataya Starbucks is located right in the middle of Fukuoka’s shopping district, Tenjin. Due to this fact it is extremely busy during the day, early morning (around 8am-10am) is the best time to grab a coffee as it is really peaceful and calm around this time.
While Starbucks is definitely not my favorite cappuccino I still don’t mind having it on a Sunday with friends, though I do have one complaint. The coffee is TOO HOT!! Starbucks consumer research, if you are reading take note Coffee is not meant to be so hot that I burn my tongue when I drink it. Also please pass along my compliments to the girl who frothed my milk, she did a very good job. It was thick, creamy and fluffy, just the way froth should be. Starbucks Cinnamon rolls taste fantastic when they are warmed up, I devoured that baby faster than you can say Cinnamon.
